Arm Lift
Arm Lift, or Brachioplasty, is a procedure that removes loose, sagging skin from the upper arms. The best candidate for an arm lift is someone with a significant amount of loose skin (usually from weight loss), and not a lot of fatty tissue. An arm lift is sometimes combined with liposuction for further contouring.
An arm lift is beneficial for the patient who has an excess amount of drooping, hanging skin. The main drawback of this procedure is scarring. But after surgery many patients state that they prefer the scars over the excess skin and fatty tissue.
At your consultation, you surgeon will review the recovery period. Usually, most patients and able to return to normal activity within approximately 10 days after surgery. No lifting should be performed for the first few days; no heavy lifting (more than 25lbs.) for the first 2 weeks. Swelling is typical and there may be some mild to moderate discomfort over the first few days. Medication is prescribed for your post-op care and can be taken as needed. It is advised that you someone with you for at least the first 48 hours following surgery.
